Google Analytics tracks and reports your website traffic, as well as where these sources are coming from and how your client is finding you. It’s a great tool to use in order to see if your advertising, search engine optimization and marketing plan is working for your business.
When you build a site with us, we set up your analytics. However, if you’re building a site yourself, it may be difficult to know how to set up and sync your analytics.
First you need a Google Analytics Account: Walk-through here. It’s really helpful to connect your Google Adwords account too, so you can start seeing your Return on Investment on Google Ads.
If you have a WordPress website, you can upload a plugin (we suggest this one) and add your tracking code to your site this way.
Squarespace offers a place to add your Google Analytics tracking code as well: Check out the virtual walk-through here
Wix requests the Google Analytics code opposed to the tracking code. More instructions on how to add this can be found here.
Make sure to wait a couple of days for the Analytics to start tracking. We generally check out our analytics once a month. Looking more than that has the potential to drive you crazy! If you’re not sure how to decipher your Google Analytics, come in for a chat. We’d love to show you around the dashboard, and help you figure out what’s working and what’s not on your Analytics account.
